Performance?  Really?
Some would question us about producing such a trivial item, that lives under the hood.  Someone, even in the most expensive ones, BMW elected to use the same, ugly, cast oil cap on top of the oil filter housing.  For vehicles that use the factory cover part number 11-42-1-711-075, we've got the solution for you!

This fits the following vehicles

  • E30 318i
  • E32 735i
  • E34 525i, 525ix, 535i
  • E36 318 (M42)
  • E36 M3, 325, M Roadster/Coupe (S50/S54)
  • E46 M3 (including CSL), MZ4 Roadster/Coupe (S54)

Made from 6061-T6 aluminum, this cover seals like factory and installs in minutes.   We have been able to work from factory dimensions, in order to ensure that the underside of this "decorative" oil lid does not ruin its intended job by neglecting oil flow to the factory filter.  When considering and item that seems this insignificant, do not overlook the obvious.  Rogue Engineering has been fortunate enough to verify our dimensions to ensure that the oil supply MUST continue to filter through the housing.

WARNING!
We have seen some aftermarket oil lids that have obviously NOT followed factory dimensions and therefore, allows unfiltered oil PASS the filter, into the engine.  Having access (or even having) CNC equipment does not ensure that these dimensions follow factory specifications.  Check before you buy!

Each of the above lids are available in the brushed aluminum or Rogue Engineering Pewter Anodized finish (additional charge).

Got a Big Plastic Cap?
In the 90s, BMW began installing plastic oil filter lids on the filter housings.  Instead of a long bolt to hold them down, the plastic lid had external threads, which thread into the aluminum oil filter housing.  Removing the cap requires a huge socket on top of the .  Hmmm...plastic threads into an aluminum housing.  Is this an oil filter or a soda bottle?

Unfortunately, because of this novel design, the Rogue Engineering Oil Filter Lid is not compatible with this style of oil filter housing.

Ok, Maybe Some Performance
For those that insist on all of their Rogue Engineering products deliver some level of performance, we to offer a optional filter lid made specifically for oil sending units.  Two (2) ports with M10 x 1 threads have been machined for installing an oil pressure sending and temperature units.

What about the hideous bolt?
Don't forget, only apply 25Nm (18 ft. lbs) max to that terrible looking bolt!
