Rogue Engineering's rebuildable gear shift joint. One of the major areas to remove that "in gear shifter wobble" is to replace a worn gear joint.
We have built and sold countless manual transmission short shift kits since 2001. With this in mind, we have found that the aftermarket AND OEM gear shift joint to be an weak point in the shifting mechanism. With aftermarket joints, the plastic bearing material is both thin, fragile and have poor dimensions compared to stock. The factory joints are better, but do not last long enough.
We determined to improve the bearing material, increase wearable dimensions, and make them available for easy replacement and rebuilding. This also meant machining our own gear joint housing (from 7075 aluminum with a hard anodize coating). While we were at it, we designed a replacement circlip for our joint (from stainless steel).
The Rogue Engineering gear joint is designed to match the crucial dimensions such as the dowel pin position to the selector rod center point. Make sure your selector rod gear joint is the OEM equivalent to the 25-11-7-580-281 part number.
Feature summation:
- Shift joint is CNC'd from 7075 aluminum and hard anodized.
- Circlip spring is made from 303 stainless steel
- Replaceable joint pivot bushing halves are CNC machined from Delrin
- Foam spring insert of custom cast to emulate OEM dimensions and rate
- Manual transmissions built from 9/1994 used selector rod joint 25-11-1-222-688 which required two plastic yellow washers on either side. This has been designed to be equivalent to the updated part number 25-11-7-580-281, which dimensionally included the two plastic washers.
- Includes OEM factory foam inner bushing.
Replaces BMW factory part number 25-11-7-580-281 and 25-11-1-222-688. Sold as a complete joint with all parts. Parts available separately.
Application Note!
