The OEM rubber hanger on the Z3M Coupe/Roadster (sorry, not designed for Non-M Z3s) replacement cost has skyrocketed out of control to over $180 each! We decided to step in and come up with a better solution. Finally a 'smart' solution to the Z3M rear exhaust hanger (and Z8)!
The 2000-01 Z3M Roadster/Coupe Rear Muffler Hangers
Our exhaust mount is not only more robust, rebuildable and adjustable replacement for the BMW OEM P/N 18-21-1-704-198.
One complaint we have heard from Z3M owners when installing aftermarket exhausts is that they often do not hang evenly. With our novel design, we allow for the mount to be adjusted 5mm or even 10mm lower so that the tips can evenly align.
A Better Mousetrap
A few issues with a factory rear muffler hanger exist. So why not make a list and address them all in one design?
- OEM/OE all rubber design constantly fails. We eliminate a lot of the rubber construction with our aluminum design, but allow for rubber inserts to handle some of the NVH. The way the inserts are secured into the housing prevent it from ever failing completely. At $181.60 each, it can get expensive.
- Rebuildable by design, saves money in the long run. The bushings can be replaced by removing just the bushing themselves. Extra bushings sold separately. The aluminum inserts can be reused.
- Our assembly allows for optional spacers to be installed, to fine-tune the position of the muffler hanger. Without the spacer itself, it sits exactly in the factory position. Add a single spacer and you can lower the mounting hole by 5mm. Adding two spacers lowers it by 10mm. Spacers and required hardware sold separately.
