The lowest profile mount made! Finally, tall guys can fit into small cars!
While working on customer track cars for years, we often had to fabricate our own floor mounts to get the fixed back seats low enough in the vehicle. This is especially true for vehicles with full roll cages, as most often times a driver's helmet will make contact with the overhead bars of the cage.
Fabricating a custom floor mount that was low enough meant a few hours of measuring, cutting material, welding, grinding, fitting per side. This fabrication process would take over 2 hours for each mount. We have decided to make it easier (and cheaper) to get the lowest floor mount produced.
Here is a sample of the cost savings from our own shop:
- 24" x 2" CRS strips, 3/16" thickness, $10 each, $40 total
- 3 hours of fabrication (welding, cutting, drilling, finishing, refitting), $135/hour, $405 total
So roughly $445 for a custom made seat mount to get to the point of a steel mount ready to put a seat assembly (sliders, side mounts, seat) for fitting.
Made from 3/16" cold rolled steel, this one-piece, CNC plasma cut floor mount is designed to bolt directly to the existing factory floor. The corners of the mount have radii on all corners to prevent stress risers and increase strength.
It is designed to fit on the left or right (by flipping it over). Once the seat assembly has been determined, marks can be made on the mount, and then can drilled accordingly. Other holes can be drilled to mount other items such as the 3-point belt anchor or harness lap belts (using the Rogue Engineering Lap Belt Bracket
, sold separately). The floor mount is bare steel finish, so painting or powdercoating is recommended after all the final fitting has been done.
